India: A Land of Plenty, Peace and Prosperity

India is one of the most richly endowed countries in the world. There is enough of everything in it. Mountains, hills, valleys, lakes, deserts, plateaus, seas, plains and whatnot, India has everything.  Life sustaining resources such as air, water, sunlight, forests, animals, land, seas, flora, fauna, minerals, metals, human population, etc. exist in staggering abundance. Rivers such as Ganges, Sutlej, Ravi, Beas, Brahmputra, Kaveri, etc. flow perennially through its various planes making them the most fertile and arable planes in the world. Industrious farmers grow all types of crops, vegetables, fruits, etc on these plains and keep the food supplies abundantly supplied throughout the year. So, there is no scarcity of any sort in Indian subcontinent. According to statistics in Wikipedia the total cultivable area in India is 1,945,355 km² (56.78% of its total land area). India has a total water surface area of 360,400 km². India has the 4th largest coal reserves in the world; iron and manganese ores are 7th largest reserve in the world as in 2013; mica and bauxite are 5th largest reserve in the world as in 2013.

As regards peace, India is the messenger of peace. The philosophy of the Vedic period sages is the guiding light of this great nation. Based firmly on the spiritual values of universal brotherhood, India seethes with peace. In all parts of India Yogis, Sadhus, ascetics, monks, Fakirs, etc. mediate and consecrate themselves to the cause of regional, national, and world peace. Tolerance, respect for all cultures, acceptance of all are the hallmark characteristics of Indian culture and ethos. Hence, peace prevails permanently in spite of the nefarious hostile intentions of some neighbouring countries that are jelous of its prosperity and self-reliance.

When it comes to prosperity, India is the fastest progressing country in the world. According to Wikipedia the economy of India is the sixth-largest economy in the world measured by nominal GDP. The country is categorized as a newly industrialized country, one of the G-20 major economies. India is an important member of BRICS and a developing economy with an average growth rate of approximately 7% over the last two decades. India's economy became the world's fastest growing major economy in the last quarter of 2014, surpassing the People's Republic of China.

India is stunning the world with its self-reliance in scientific and technological advancement. ISRO, India’s premier space research organization has amazed the world with its expertise and feats. Recently it successfully launched 104 satellites into the space and made a world record. Similarly, Indian DRDO, BHEL, ADA and other defense organizations have successfully created advanced surface-to-surface, surface-to-air missiles along with other cutting-edge weapons of self-defense.

So, India is indeed a land of plenty, peace and prosperity.

                             Parents are a Precious Possession

My most precious possession is my family. My parents are special because they are my roots that support me at the base underground; though they are hidden underground, my existence without them is impossible. As there can be no present without the past, similarly, I cannot have my being without my parents. It is their power that keeps my world stable. They earn and work for me!

Where would I be without their loving care? Would my survival be possible without them?  My very life will come to a standstill without them. They give me solace when I am hurt! Their loving support gives me the strength to face the challenges, dilemmas, loneliness, and hard times. They stand by me through the vicissitudes of dark and hard time! Our parents and grandparents shine in our dark world like rays of light. Great authors, leaders, scientists, doctors, etc often had supportive parents. The truth is our parents are the most indispensable part of our life. They are the light of our otherwise dark world.

At times I just wonder what my life would be without them! They not only brought me to this world, but also ensured each and every need of mine be fulfilled and taken care of. They provided for my education. They instilled in me the values and a strong character. Our parents are the living God! We must respect them and love them for their invaluable light of love and wisdom in our life!
