1. It is moisture retentive.

2. It is rich in minerals especially potash and lime.

3. Soils in the drier areas are more alkaline.

4. They r of two types according to their age: khadar and bhangar.

5. These soils r found on the plains of Indus and coastal stripes of peninsular India.

6. Rice ,wheat, sugarcane, etc, can be grown on this soil.
