diwali is a religious festival celebrated as festival of lights by lighting lamps.
We eagerly wait for this day of lights, enthusiasm, and prosperity. People celebrate to commemorate the returning of Lord Rama to Ayodhya(his kingdom) after 14 years of exile after defeating Raavan. At this time the kingdom's people decorated their homes and pathways with lamps, inviting the Lord Rama back to his Kingdom. This festival indicates "Goodness over badness".
