                                            LABOUR'S DAY

Labour's day is the annual holiday to celebrate the achievements of workers. Labour's Day has its origin in the labour union movement, specifically the eight hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest. Labour's Day is linked with International Worker's Day, which occurs on 1 May. In Canada and United States it is celebrated on first Monday of September. In the United States, Labour Day is a federal holiday observed on the first Monday of September.
It is customarily viewed as the end of the summer vacation season. Many schools open for  the year on the day after Labor Day. The holiday is shared with Canada, where it is known as Labour Day.

Labor Day is a dedication to the social and economic achievements of  workers. It constitutes a yearly national acknowledgment to the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well-being of our country. It has evolved from a purely labor union celebration into a general "last fling of summer" festival. The origin and deeper meaning of the day has been forgotten, or never actually known to many.
