The story :
★ thє ѕlєєpíng вєαutч ★
Once there lived a king and a Queen in a kingdom. The Queen gave birth to a cute baby girl who was named Ritika. On this occasion, the king held a great feast and called the people to bless the new born princess.
Many great fairies lived in the kingdom. In those days, soon after the birth of a chilf, one of the fairies was invited to become her godmother. The fairy gave the child her gifts and protected her from dangers. Since Ritika was a princess, the Queen of fairies was invited to become her Godmother.
A witch who lived in a dark cave in a nearby hill came there. She was very angry with the king because she had not been invited to the feast. She came and gave a curse to the princess. She said that when she grows up, she would get her hand cut with a spindle and she would die.
The king and the Queen were too much depressed and requested the Godmother to prevent the curse. The Godmother said, " Curse cannot be prevented but it can be changed. The princess shall not die but she shall fall into a deep sleep for a hundred years. After that a young Prince shall come to her and wake her out of her long sleep by giving her a kiss".
Each and every spindle was destroyed by the countries at the behest of the king so that the words of the witch would not come true.
When Ritika was fifteen years old, her parents had to go on a long journey. One day Ritika by chance went into a small room in the palaxe. There she saw an old women who was spinning with a spindle. Ritika ever saw anyone spinning. So, she came to the old women and asked curiously, "Can I use this spindle?" "Why not?" said the old women.
Princess took up the spindle and tried to spin. As she did so, the sharp end if the spindle made a cut on her hand and she fell down. The poor old women felt scared and called for help. Many servants came running, but they could do anything to wake Ritika out of her sleep.
As soon as the Godmother heard this, she came to the palace. She saw that the hundred years slumber had begun and she could do nothing to break it. "There must be some people and animals near her when she wakes up", she thought and waved her magic and wand. The soldiers at the gate, the horses in the stables, even the dog at the princess's feet, all fell asleep.
At last the hundred years time span were approaching to an end.
One day a Prince visited the kingdom. He was made aware about the curse of the sleeping princess. "You must be the prince for whom the princess has been waiting or the last hundred years", said an old man.
The prince entered the palace, where everything was as fresh and beautiful as it had been hundred years ago.
Then he entered the room of the sleeping princess. He bent over and gently kissed on her forehead. At once she opened her eyes and said, "My Prince! I have been waiting for you for a long time".
All the people and animals woke up at once. The servants went on their work where they had stopped, just as if nothing had happened. The dogs barked and wagged their tails. The horses started eating their hay and the soldiers continued their march at the gate.
The Prince told the Princess what all had happened.
Soon, the news that the sleeping princes had been awoken from her hundred years' sleep spread all over the kingdom. She was married to the prince. They both lived happily ever after.
