m th term is 1/n
tm => a + (m -1)d = 1/n -----------------(1)
n th term is 1/m
tn => a + (n-1)d = 1/m ------------------(2)
subtract equation (2) from equation (1)
tm - tn =>
1/n - 1/m = [(m-1 ) - (n-1)]d
(m-n) / mn = [ m -1 - n + 1] d
(m-n) / m n = (m - n) d
d = (m-n) /mn divided by (m-n)
d = 1 / mn sub in equation (1)
a + (m-1) d = 1/n
a + (m -1) /mn = 1/n
a = 1/n - (m-1) / mn
a = 1/ mn (on solving )
tmn = a + (mn -1) d
= 1/mn + (mn - 1) /mn
= (1/mn) + 1 - (1/mn)
tmn = 1
so, mn th term = 1
