Given:-

\sf\dfrac{8 - 3x}{5x + 31} = \dfrac{2}{3}

To find:-

Value of x.

Solution:-

3(8 - 3x) = 2(5x + 31)

24 - 9x = 10x + 62

24 - 62 = 10x + 9x

-38 = 19x

x = \dfrac{-38}{19}

x = -2

Answer:-

x = -2

Verification:-

L.H.S

\sf\dfrac{8 - 3x}{5x + 31}

\sf\dfrac{8 - 3(-2)}{5(-2) + 31}

\sf\dfrac{8 + 6}{-10 + 31}

\sf\dfrac{14}{21}

\sf\dfrac{2}{3}

RHS

\sf\dfrac{2}{3}
