I want the difference between the violet and the poppy

in the colour theory, the poppy is defined as a non- spectral colour between violet and red .
the spectral colours violet and indigo are not poppy's according to the colour theory.but they are poppy's according to the English usage since they are between red and blue .and purple is somewhat pinkish than violet.
