Its the basic human nature that despite varying interests people tend to live together. Humans due to settlement, transport and communication are regarded as the most social creatures on earth.
Settlement : During the early man periods humans settled on trees and inside caves. The places where we built houses are called settlements. River valleys we're the first settlements for human dwelling the reason being their fertile lands and availability of water. As people in that era were mostly dependent on agriculture they settled on places which would support beneficial farming.
Gradually when people started trading and earning through commercial establishments, they started settling according to their interest of trade and earnings. With the advent of modern skills in humans, settlement flourish to places other than river valleys. Primarily, settlements can be of following types :
1. Permanent settlement
2. Temporary settlement
3. Urban settlement
4. Rural settlement
5. Compact settlement
6. Scattered settlement
Transport : Traveling in early days could take months to years , the absence of conveyance in early days make traveling the most arduous of works. Until the invention of wheels , traveling was a task to do ! With the passage of time human beings developed different means of transport.
Before the invention of wheels people used to travel with mules or donkeys to carry items of luggage but after the invention traveling become more easy and fun. For example, in India we carry mules, donkeys , bullocks and camels for carrying luggage.
In Tibet people use yaks and South America people use Llamas asa mean of transport . The modern means of transport like railways, roadways, airways saves time and energy both .
Communication : The process of conveying messages to people living in distant places is communication. Mass media, Internet, mobiles and satellites are the various modes of communication. The different modes have different uses . For example, television and newspaper help in information and education whole mobile , telephones and emails help in conveying messages.
Satellites help in faster communication about natural happenings , resources and disaster warnings . Today we also use Internet as an important mode of communication . Thus, from gathering information to interaction internet as the modern means of communication as made our lives much more comfortable.
