With the coming of the Britishthe largely peaceful life of the tribal peoplewas disrupted. During the 2nd half of 18th century, most of the tribal areas in the North-East were taken over by the british. As a result of economic, social and religious issues,there were a series of tribal revolts across India between 1765 and 1847- like the revolt of the Mal Paharis 1772, the Chau Revolt1774, the revolt of kols 1811.
