For over 500 million years, fishes existed on earth long before the dinosaurs. Fish is an aquatic animal which breathes and lives in water. The fishes have fins and scales. They breathe through gills and are vertebrates. The fishes are divided into three main groups that are, cartilaginous, bony and jawless. More than 15,000 fishes are estimated to be not identified. The internal body temperature of the fishes changes as per their surrounding and are therefore called cold-blooded.

Fishes have a sense organ which helps them navigate in dark water, this organ is known as lateral line. The smallest and largest fish are Philippine goby and shark respectively. Fishes have an excellent sense of touch, sight, smell, hearing, and taste.
