She felt uncomfortable in this chaos and wanted to break free and return back home. However, realising that there was no way out of this pandemonium, she exclaims that she was 'securely tied'.
2. In the boarding school, the students were supposed to march to the dining hall for breakfast. Feeling uneasy, adjusting in the tough disciplinarian environment, Zitkala-Sa's eyes searched for the three boys who had joined the school with her. This, she terms as spying. These boys were in the rear (end) of the queue and seemed as awkward as she had been feeling.
