Call the tens digit of the original 2 digit number x and the units digit y, Then the value of the number is 10x + y. Similarly the number with the digits reversed will have the value 10y + x. We are given that these two numbers have the sum of 121, So (10x + y) + (10y + x) = 11(x + y) = 121 or x + y = 11.
