Answer:

The above given questions are from the poem 'The tree'.

i) The trees which are mentioned here in the poem, are in the poet's house.

There are many cracks in the veranda floor, so the roots of the tree works all night to disengage themselves from the cracks.

The leaves puts in effort to move towards the glass and due to exertion the twigs get stiff.

ii) The branches are being compared to the newly discharged patients who looks half dazed and pale due to suffering from long illness.

Likewise, the branches wants to get out into the fresh air and spread themselves.

Answer:

i. All trees are in the poet’s house. Their roots are trying to separate form themselves from the crack which was all over the poet’s veranda floor. These roots were working all night to separate themselves. The leaves of trees were working hard to move towards the glass and twigs were getting hard with continuous struggle.

ii. Poet compared the branches with the newly discharged patients from the hospital who look unconscious as they move towards the door after a long illness. They are waiting to get out from the hospital just like branches wanted to get out in an open air.
