Question−

A room 9.5m long and 6m wide is surrounded by a 1.25-m-wide verandah. Calculate the cost of cementing the floor of this verandah at rupees 80 per square ?

\bold{\underline{Answer-}}Answer−

According to the question we know that A room is 9.8m long and 6m wide and it's surrounded by a 1.25m wide verandah.

Now,

Area of room = 6 × 9.5 = 57m

Now,

The length of verandah

=> 9.5 + 1.25 × 2 = 12m

Breadth of verandah = 6+1.25 × 2 = 8.5m

Then,

The area of verandah = 12 × 8.5 = 102m²

Total area of room = 102 - 57 = 45

Now,

Cost of cementing 80 × 45 = 3600

Answer:

rs. 3600 is the answer..........

Step-by-step explanation:

Let EFGH denote the floor of the room.

The white region represents the floor of the 1.25 m verandah.

Length, EF = 9.5 m

Breadth, FG = 6 m

∴ Area of EFGH = 9.5 m    6 m = 57 m2

Length, AB = (9.5  + 1.25  + 1.25 ) m = 12 m

Breadth, BC = ( 6 + 1.25 + 1.25 ) m = 8.5 m

∴ Area of ABCD = 12 m  8.5 m = 102 m2

Area of the verandah = Area of ABCD − Area of EFGH

                                  = 102 m2 − 57 m2

                                  = 45 m2

Rate of cementing the verandah = Rs 80 per m2

∴ Total cost of cementing the verandah = Rs ( 80  45)

                                                            = Rs 3600
