Why the minimum and maximum theremometer kept in the wooden box in stevenson screen?

The air flow is allowed. The thermometers are protected Ted from direct sunlight and also so that it undergoes the lowest of pressure change so that the temperature shown in maximum and minimum arm of the thermometer is accurate.
