I will answer w.r.t Indian CA course
As such there are not much demerits of the course . But still some small negative points:-
“Too many cooks spoil the broth” is the case in CA course .As they want u to study various subjects which varies from Account and Finance to Law and Taxation. But you are not absolute expert of any. You gain immense knowledge on each subjects but not in absolute depth. This problem had been solved to a extent by intdroucing elective paper.
The paper are becoming more theortical rather than more realtable to changing world. However institute already brought change in this regard by intdroucing case study questions and mcqs.
Articleship should be after CA FINAL exams so that students can actually apply knowledge of final into their learning. These are also being on verge of getting solved as ICAI had introduced Practical Assessment Test every year during Articleship.
So moreover demerits are very less and which existed also are getting solved through continous improvement in process.
The knowledge and respect this Course provides you is incomparable to other courses
