INDIRECT SPEECH :

❉ When we use indirect speech, we do not got the actual words spoken by a person but convey the meaning in our own words . The connector 'that ' is used to introduce indirect words .

Example :

Mrs.Gohain said that she was pleased to meet him.

❉ First-person and second-person pronouns of direct sppech are changed into third-person pronouns in indirect speech.

I → She/He , you →Her /Him,  my → Her / His.

❉ Words that express nearness in time or place are changed into words that Express distance .

This → That,  today → That day,  tomorrow →The next day,  ago → before.

Example :

Muthuswamy said,  "I will visit my friend today."  (direct)

Muthuswamy said that he would visit his friend that day.  ( indirect)

HOPE IT HELPS YOU....

Change into Indirect Speech :-

In Indirect speech we have removed the comma in the indirect  sentence and put the conjunction that in its  place.

Answer :-

1. Rohan told his father that he was going that day.

2. My mother said that they were going to my grandmother's house that Sunday.

In Indirect speech we have removed the inverted commas of  the reported speech.
