Here is the solution:

Take (x-2y) to be some variable m

So,

9m²-4m-13=0

Using quadratic formula:

-b ± \sqrt{b^{2}-4ac }/2a

4±√16-4(-117) /2(9)

4±√484/18

4±22 /18

Case(i) 4+22=26/18= 13/9

Case(ii) 4-22=-18/18= -1

Now, the solutions are (m+1)(m-13/9)=0

x-2y= -1

x-2y= 13/9
