I woke on Sunday morning and got a news from my father that we were moving. I had lived all my life in the same city, with its friendly neighbors and green trees. When I first heard this, I chuckled. But soon afterward, its seriousness grew onto me. It meant that I had to bid farewell to my friends, home, and memories.
I thought I had time, but I was asked to pack immediately. Everything that belonged to us would be left here, excluding some necessities like clothing and food. I had little time to ask him what was going on.
I jumped into the car and watched as the town moved behind us. Two teardrops rolled down each cheek and I cried myself to sleep. It was only after I heard my father's voice did I wake up.
"We're here," he said.
I grunted and looked around. We were in the middle of a desert, with golden sand lining the horizon. The sun left me dehydrated. The only point of interest was a rocket-shaped object in the distance.
"What's this?" I asked him.
"We're going to Mars, to meet your mother."
(Was that too much?)
