hello sorry for the delay of answer
chemical name of the brown gas is nitrogen dioxide and formula is NO₂
manufacturers of chips flush the bag of chips with nitrogen gas to prevent oxidation so that chips dont get rancid

Explanation:

(i) When lead nitrate is heated and its thermal decomposition takes place, a brownish gas is produced which is nitrogen dioxide which has chemical formula NO_2.

The equation for the chemical reaction is given below:

2Pb(NO_3)_2 \rightarrow 2PbO + 4NO_2 + O_2

(ii) Chip manufacturers flush bags of chips with nitrogen to prevent the oxidation of the vegetable oils and other fats that are present in the packets. This prevents the rancidity of the chips.

In other words, nitrogen prevents decay of the chips if they come in contact with oxygen. The presence of nitrogen avoids chips getting into contact with oxygen and keeps them crisp till the packet is opened.
