The conjugate base of HCl is Cl- ( chloride ion)
That of HNO3 is NO₃⁻
By the term conjugate base, we mean a substance that is normally formed when an acid hydrolyzes in water to give proton.
It is normally referred to as a base since it can gain proton to form an acid.
In this case, the chloride ion is able to accept a proton( H⁺) to form an acid in the reverse hydrolysis reaction.
