x + y = 4...( 1 )

2x - 5y = 1 ....( 2 )

Multiplying equation ( 1 ) from 2

2x + 2y = 4 ...( 3 )

Subrating equation ( 3 ) from ( 2 )

2x - 5y = 1

2x + 2y = 4

= - 3y = -3

y = -3 / -3

= 1

y = 1

Substituting y = 1 in equation ( 1 )

x + y = 4

x + 1 = 4

x = 4-1

x = 3

The solution is x = 3 and y = 1
