ICE is nothing but frozen water . why does it floats then? it floats because when water freezes it changes its molecular structure which allows air to come in.Due to that air spaces it floats. example - just like a BALLOON in water.

AnswerStation: thus,it has less density than water.

Answer:

Ice floats on water because density of ice is less than water. As it cools further and freezes into ice,it actually becomes less dense than water.
