that heat energy is latent heat( hidden heat). that is till a certain stage temperature applied is used to increase the temperature of the body but after some stage the temperature of light is used to convert it stains from solid to liquid instead of increasing the temperature of the body therefore ice melts by absorbing heat but till it's melting point it increases its temperature but at its melting point it uses that energy heat energy to convert from solid to liquid state
