Concept: Rational numbers are those numbers which can be shown in the form of p/q, where q≠0. It is the type of real numbers.

Given: a) √25/6

b) √20/4

c) √2.√3

d) 2.27

Find: Identify which is a rational number.

Solution:

a) \sqrt{\frac{25}{6} }

=5/√6

=5/2.45

=2.040...

\sqrt{\frac{25}{6} } is an irrational number.

b) √20/4

=√5

=2.236..

√20/4 is an irrational number.

c) √2.√3

=√6

=2.44...

=  √2.√3 is an irrational number.

d) 2.27...

= x=2.2727... →(1)

Multiply both sides by 100

100x= 227.2727... →(2)

Subtract eq. (1) from eq. (2)

99x=225

x=225/99

2.27... is a rational number because it is in the p/q form.

Final answer: 2.27... is a rational number.
