Three states which have been carved out of bigger states are -

1. Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar.

2. Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh.

3. Uttarakhand was carved from Uttar Pradesh.

4. These states were derived from their respective better states for better management.

5. But the results were not satisfactory and the smaller states did not perform as well as the parent states. The agricultural growth did not match the outcome of the parent states.

In the year 2000, the big states of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh were divided into three new states: Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand.

This column examines the new entities' performance before and after their dissolution, as well as in relation to their respective rump states. There has been substantial disagreement about whether the new, smaller states have done better in terms of governance and economic performance since the dissolution of the three main states of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh (MP), and Uttar Pradesh (UP) in 2000, and the most recent disintegration of Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
