Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate ( NaHCO3) is formed when one acid and one base reacts with each other to form the required salt.

The acid and base being talked about above are Carbonic Acid (H2CO3) and Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) respectively.

The reaction in support of the answer is:

NaOH + H2CO3  -->  NaHCO3 + H2O

The compound formed ( NaHCO3) has pH value slightly above 7 and  is weakly basic in nature.
