Identify the compound of calcium which is used for plastering of fractured bones with the help of chemical eq. Show how is it prepared and what special precaution should be taken during the preparation of this compound

_compounds is plaster of Paris.

- chemical equation is caso4. 2h2O-----------caso4. 1/2h2O+3/2H2O

it is prepared by heating gypsum (caso4. 2H2O) at 373k.

precaution :-

1) when gypsum is heated keep in mind that it should be heated at 373k if it is heated at 400k then dead burnt plaster is formed which don't have property of hardening.

Preparation :

On heating Gypsum at 373 K Plaster of Paris is formed.

CaSO₄. 2 H₂O    ⇒ CaSO₄. 1/2 H₂O + 3/2 H₂O

Special precaution :

We shouldn't heat gypsum above 373 K else it will not form.
