✓ Identify the disproportion reaction from the following equations
O S8(s) + 120H-(aq) ---->452-(aq) +252032-(aq) +6H20(1)
Zn(s) + 2HCl(aq) ---> ZnCl2(aq) + H2(g)
Cl2(g) + 21-(aq) --> 2C1-(aq) + 12(s)
O Cus04(aq) + Zn(s)
CuSO4(aq) + Zn(s) ---> Cu(s) + ZnSO4(aq)

Answer:

(1) zn(s)+2hcl(aq)=zncl2(aq)+h2 is displacement reaction. zinc metal displaces the hydrogen to form hydrogen gas and zinc chloride a salt

(2) h2(g)+0(g)=h2o(aq) is combination reaction. hydrogen gas combined with oxygen gas to form a h2o (water)

(3) 2cl2+2h2o=4hcl+o2 when chlorine gas (cl2) added to water (h2o) , it hydrolyzes rapidly to produce hypoclorous acid will then dissociate into hyprchlorite ions (ocl-) and hydrogen ion (h+) bcoz hydrogen ions produced, the water will become more acidic ( the ph of the water will decrease)

(4) cuso4(aq) + zn(s) =cu(s) + znso4(aq) is displacement reaction bcoz zinc metal is more reactive to copper than copper, so zinc displace copper ions to form zinc sulphate and copper metal , thus is redox reaction.

hope its help u
