Happy Vishu dear friend.

Today is Vishu.
Today is the first day of the Malayalam month. (Maedam)

It is celebrated in the state of Kerala and by Hindu Malayalees all over the world with great enthusiasm.

Vishu is celebrated as the return of Surya Dev. According to the other folklores Ravana demon king, never allowed Surya Dev or the Sun God to rise from the east. It was on the day of Vishu, after the death of Ravana, the sun or Surya Dev started to rise from the east. Since then, Vishu is celebrated with great zeal.

As per tradition on the previous night of Vishu, Vishu Kani is set up in the prayer room. And in the morning children and bought in front of the Kani with closed eyes so the first thing they see that day is the Kani.

Vishu festival a vishu kani in the prayer room or worship area of the house befor idol of lord Vishnu and Lord krishna by eldest lady of the house .These good include coconut,betel,leave,yellow kani konna flower ,kanmashi kajol,raw rice,a mirror,lemon,golden cucumber ,jack fruit and currency notes.
All the family member have to wake up early in the morning by dawn with closed eyes go to the worship area of the house.
