What is a dependent clause?

  • In simple language dependent clause is a set/group of words which contain a predicate [verb] and a subject.

  • We call it a Dependent clause. because it cannot stand alone on its own, as a sentence, means it is dependent on other clause.

What is a Independent clause?

  • It is totally opposite of dependent clause.

  • In simple language, Independent clause contains a verb and a subject. It can stand alone, means it is not dependent on any sentence.
