Pupil size, for example, can often tellyou a poisonous snake from a non-poisonous snake; however, discerning this would lead you dangerously close to the creature itself. Most poisonous snakes have a pupil that resembles a cat's; an oblong shape with peaked ends, like a slit in the center of the eye.

Look at the head. Most venomous snakes usually have triangular shaped heads.

Observe the colors. Some venomous snakes such as the coral snake have bright colors.

Poisonous Snakes usually are of bright colors , having long and triangular head , constricted neck, abruptly tapered tail , small scales on the top of head, loreal shield present , a large mental shield , solid and uniform teeth( large teeth are called fangs) , having paired poison gland , less developed muscular system and developed hypophysis throughout the vertebral column.

hope it helps you
