Reagent from the above list which can easily distinguish between 1-butyne and 2-butyne is :

• We have two compounds with same number of carbon in their parent chain.

• The difference is the position of triple bond in both of them.

• One is having triple bond at terminal carbon and other is having it in between the compound.

• So for distinguishing terminal alkyne group, we use ammonical Cu₂Cl₂ solution.

• When 1-butyne react with ammonical Cu₂Cl₂ solution, it gives red ppt of copper-1-butynide.
