1. Atmosphere:

The air envelope surrounding the earth is known as Atmosphere. This protective envelop surrounding earth sustain life on earth and protect us from unfriendly environment of outer space.

It covers more than 75% of the earth surface either as oceans or as fresh water

(a) Inner and Outer Core:

Central fluid or vaporised sphere of diameter of about 2500km from the centre.

(b) Mantle:

It is about 2900-3000 km above the core in molten state.

(c) Crust:

Outermost solid zone about 8-40 km above mantle.

4. Biosphere:

This segment of environment consists of atmosphere (air- 02, N2, C02).

• Earth's biosphere is made up of all the living organisms on the Earth. It includes animals, bacteria, plants, single celled organisms etc. It is thin stratum of Earths surface that supports life. It extends few kilometres into the atmosphere to the deep-sea vents o the ocean.  It is the global ecosystem of living and non living things.

• The solid outer part of the earth is called lithosphere, it includes the upper portion of the mantle, crust of the Earth's structure. It is bound by atmosphere above and asthenosphere below.

• Hydrosphere includes the water that is on the surface of the underground, planet and in the air. The hydrosphere can be vapour, ice or liquid or ice.  On Earth the liquid water exists on the surface in lakes, rivers and oceans. It is also present in wells and groundwater aquifers.

• The thin layer of gases that  surrounds the Earth is called atmosphere. It seals the planet and protects the oxygen and other gases from escaping into the space.
