In This equation there is a litle mistake, Co never shows -3 state therefore it must be + 3.

Charge of the Nickel is decreased, therefore, it is Reduction. On the Other hand, Charge on the Cobalt is Increased so it is the Oxidation.


The substance undergoes oxidation is called as Reducing agent. Therefore, Reducing agent is Cobalt

The substance undergoes Reduction is called as Oxidizing agent. Therefore, Oxidizing agent is Ni2+ .
