In the battle of Panipat, 1526, as we know, Babur defeated Ibrahim Lodi.

Despite being heavily outnumbered, Babur defeated Ibrahim Lodi mainly because of two thing, one being his superb military tactics, second being the innovation he brought with him to the Indian subcontinent.

The use of canons, the use of gunpowder in the battlefield were used on the Indian subcontinent in the war fought between these two and this was the innovation that he bought to our land which inflicted heavy casulatity to Ibrahim Lodi’s forces. Also, the sound of the canon fire disturbed elephants of Ibrahim’s army and turned on his men only

When Babur came to know Ibrahim was coming with an army to fight him off, he showcased great tactical knowledge in the battlefield, first by narrowing the encounter space by tie carts together so that the coming army could be fooled and narrowed down so that they could not use there prowess to the limit, and then by flanking them on both the sides, which basically means surrounding them with his own army and the musket, cannon fires.

Seeing this, many from the army of Ibrahim fled, and the remaining got killed in what now we call as the First War of Panipat.
