1. Most Filipinos speak at least some English whereas in other countries, except like India, very little English is spoken
2. Philippines is a completely unique cultural mix of Spanish, American and Filipino, like nowhere else in the world. In it’s neighbors you just have ancient South East Asian cultures, which are very different. Christianity vs. Buddhism etc.
3. Philippines has a thing for copying and following America, you can see this in everything, from the way supermarkets are designed, to the way people talk and act, to their sense of humor, if you go off the beaten track this becomes less significant. Other countries do not at all follow America or the West.
4. Filipinos are really nice and respectful to foreigners, and as a male you can easily meet a nice local girl there. In other countries unless you’re a long term expat, the only girls who would be interested in you are either gold diggers or prostitutes, local girls in other countries see a foreigner as something strange they probably would not understand.
5. Philippines has much more poverty and misery than all the other countries currently, despite the fact it never had any wars or genocide like Vietnam, Cambodia, Burma, subjectively it’s doing much worse.
6. Sorry to be honest, but Filipinos have an utter callous disregard for the welfare of children, unlike any other country I have ever seen, in the Philippines you have newborn homeless babies, babies and small kids living on the sides of 10 lane highways, etc.
7. Traditional Filipino food is like “what on Earth is this?” whereas traditional food in other countries is based on ancient Asian cuisines.
8. Other countries have a lot of traditional Buddhist art and culture that the Philippines completely lacks.
9. The Philippines has absolutely incredible, stunning tropical islands and beaches, only Thailand has anything near it.
10. The Philippines is less developed in terms of tourist infrastructure which makes it a bit more expensive than other countries. This was especially a problem in Manila, but the situation is now improving.
