Solution:

_______________________

Polynomial:

An algebraic expression in which the variables involved have only non-negative integral

powers is called a polynomial.

________________________

i) 3x²+√2 is a polynomial

ii) 2x+7/2 is a polynomial

iii) 7√y + 2y is not a polynomial.

because the first term √y is a

term with an exponent that is not a non-negative integer ( i.e.1/2).

iv) 4 cube root x + 2x +2 is not a polynomial. Because the first term cube root x is a

term with an exponent that is not a non-negative integer ( i.e.1/3).

v) 3/y + y² is not a polynomial.Because the first term 3/y has a negative exponent (i.e .,-1) .
