if 1 is a zero of a polynomial p(x)= ax^2 -3 ( a -1)-1 then find the value of a

Here is your solution:
Since 1 is a zero of the given polynomial, substituting it in the polynomial would result in 0.So,
ax²-3(a-1)-1 => a(1)²-3(a-1)-1=0
=> a -3a +3 -1 =0
=> -2a + 2 =0
=> -2a =-2
=> a = 1
