let x1 = 0, y1 = 0

and x2 = 1 , y2 = x

distance = √10

we know that distance between two points is

distance = √[(x2-x1)²+(y2-y1)²]

√10 = √[(1-0)²+(x-0)²]

squaring on both sides

10 = 1²+x²

x² = 9

x = ±9
