If 10 is added to four times a number, the result is 42. Find the number​

=>it is a linear equation in one variable

let the number be x

four times of the number=4x

according to the question,

4x+10=42

or,4x=42-10(transposing 10 to RHS)

or,4x=32

or,x=32/4(dividing both sides by 4)

or,x=8(solution)

so the number is 8

proof:-

8×4+10=42

=32+10=42

=42=42

LHS=Left hand side

RHS=Right hand side
