✯ Question ✯

If 10% is lost when an article is sold for ₹ 810, for how much must it be sold to make a profit of 15 %.

✯ Given ✯

10% is lost when the article is sold for ₹ 810.

✯ To find ✯

The SP to gain 15 %.

✯ Solution ✯

CP of the article

= ₹ {100/(100-loss%) × 810}

= ₹ {100/(100-10) × 810}

= ₹ (100/90 × 810)

= ₹ (100×9)

 = ₹ 900

So, CP =  ₹ 900

SP = ₹ {(100+profit%)/100 × CP}

New SP to gain 15%

= ₹ {(100+profit%)/100 × CP}

= ₹ {(100+15)/100 × 900}

= ₹ (115/100 × 900)

= ₹  (115×9)

= ₹ 1035

✯ Hence ✯

The new SP =  ₹ 1035

✯ Therefore ✯

The article must be sold at ₹ 1035 to make a profit of 15 %.

✵ Hope this helps you. ✵
