Let,

  • The numerator be X
  • The denominator be Y

So, fraction = x/y

Now,

We are given that the numerator of a fraction is increased by 15%

So, numerator = x + 15% × x

= x + 15/100 × x

= 1.15x

And also we are given that its denominator is decreased by 8%

So, Denominator = y - 8% × y

= y - 8/100 × y

= 0.92y

Here,

The value of the fraction is 15/16

  • ➙ 1.15x/0.92y = 15/16
  • ➙ x/y = 0.92×15/16×1.15
  • ➙ x/y = 3/4

Hence the original fraction is 3/4.
