Let the number be X. Then

According to Question

\frac{15}{100} × 40 - \frac{25}{100} × X = 2

\frac{3}{20} × 40 - \frac{1}{4} × X = 2

6 - \frac{X}{4} = 2

\frac{24-X}{4} = 2

24 - X = 8

X = 16
