If 17 cos A=8

Find 15 cosec A - 8 sec A

solution :-

17 cos A = 8

Cos A = \frac{8}{17}

  • Cos A = \frac{b}{h}

\frac{b}{h}=\frac{8}{17}

b = 8

h=17

  • applying Pythagoras theorem

 p^2 + b^2 = h^2

 p^2 + 8^2 = 17^2

p^2 + 64 = 289

 p^2 = 289 - 64

 p^2 = 225

 p = \sqrt 225

 p = 15

  • finding value of cosec and sec

cosec = \frac{h}{p}

cosec = \frac{17}{15}

sec = \frac{h}{b}

 sec = \frac{17}{8}

  • putting value in equation

15 cosec A - 8 sec A

=  15 *\frac {17}{15} - 8* \frac {17}{8}

=  17 - 17

=  0
