Given:  18 tons of grass is needed for 12 cattle.

To find: How many tons of grass is required for 30 cattle?

Solution:

  • Now we have given that  18 tons of grass is needed for 12 cattle.
  • Let the  grass required for 30 cattle be x, Then:

                 for 12 cattle ----> 18 tons

                 for 30 cattle ----> x tons

  • The ratio will be:

                 12/18 = 30/x

  • Now solving for x, we get:

                 x = 30 x 18 / 12

                 x = 30 x 3 / 2

                 x = 15 x 3

                 x = 45

Answer:

            So 45 tons of grass is required for 30 cattle.
