x. = 55+17y/19

17x-19y=53....eq ii

putting the value of x in eq ii

17x-19y=53.

17 × 55+17y/19 - 19y = 53

935+289y/19 -19y = 53

935 +289y -361y/19 = 53

935 -72y = 1007

-72y = 1007 - 935

-72y = 72

y = -1

putting y = -1 in eq i

19x-17y = 55

19x +17 = 55

19x = 55 - 17

19x = 38

x = 38/19

x = 2
