2+7 = (2*10) + (2*7) = 34. (1)
8+9 = (9*10) - (8*9) = 18. (2)
6+3 = (6*10) + (3*6) = 78. (3)
5+7 = (7*10) - (5*7) = 35. (4)
first and third steps can be easily understand.
But see in 2nd and 4th step in this series is somewhat different.
In second step,
Firstly we need to multiply the second number with 10, then

and multiplication of both the numbers.
