Answer:

Let , f(x) = 4x² + 2x - 10k

Since , it is given that 2 is a zero of the polynomial f (-2) = 0

∴ 4 × (-2)² + 2 × -2 - 10k = 0

⇒ 4 × 4 + -4 -10k = 0

⇒ 16 - 4 - 10k = 0

⇒ 12 - 10k = 0

⇒ 12 = 10k

⇒ k = 12/10

⇒ k = 1.2

Verification

f(x) = 4x² + 2x - 10 × 1.2

f(x) = 4x² + 2x - 12

f(-2) =  4 × (-2)² + 2 × -2 - 12

⇒ f(-2) = 4 × 4 - 4 -12

⇒ f(-2) = 16 - 16 = 0

∴ Value of k = 1.2
